WOMENS WELLNESS DAY

Women’s Wellness Day is a free event with the sole objective of celebrating of our local women. The aim of the event is to provide women with a day of rejuvenation and positive social interaction.

The day includes topical speakers, massage therapy, manicures, facials, demonstrations (such as depression management, healthy eating, relaxation techniques), refreshments and service providers on hand to discuss mental health and relationship issues. Health screenings and a variety of hands-on demonstrations will focus on overall well being and also raise awareness of services available to women in the area.

The day is an opportunity for women to relax and enjoy each other’s company in an open and safe environment.

Growing in size from previous years, the 2019 Women's Wellness Day had around 250 attendees and 30 stall holders through the doors. The attendees were treated to two fantastic guest speakers, Jodi Wood and Janelle Burns, whose topical discussion focused on stress, eating well, personal experiences and emotional, physical and mental health and well being. Various demonstrations were on offer including Road Warriors Vehicle Maintenance, Lisa Kennedy Collections Fashion Parade, CWA Cooking Demonstrations and Pilates with Rowena Gill. The gorgeous Ludwig & Will Coffee Van provided guests with specialty coffee and exquisite drinks all day. A pack of mouth-watering biscuits was provided by Maces for morning tea along with a delicious lunch from Miles IGA. The entire hall was thick with the scent of roses thanks to the donation from the Murilla Garden Club, Maureen Statham and Sharon Colley. How lovely it was to see them blooming in the middle of this drought. Thank-you to our sponsors Jemena, Senex, Spiecapag and Valmec because without their assistance, the event would not have been delivered to such a high standard.

On 2018 Women’s Wellness Day was a day jammed packed with interesting speakers and demonstrations.

Basic car maintenance, health advice, fashion shows, inspiring speakers and adventures on the high seas!

There were many stalls to check out and the usual free lunch.

Once again ladies received a gift bag, a $20 voucher (to spend at the stalls on the day or a local business later) and a sample bottle of Browns Brothers wine. The 2018 event was once again a very successful day achieving its goal of pampering and social interaction for the women of Miles and surrounding areas.

The Murilla Comunity Centre's Womens Wellness Day was held on the 15th of June 2017 in the Leichhardt Center, Miles. As always the event was entirely free for attendees and a huge success, with close to 200 women through the doors during the day. The day consisted of facials, guest speakers, health and nutrition advice, fashion shows, exercise demonstrations and workshops. This event celebrates women in the district and provides them with a day of rest, rejuvenation and positive social interaction in order to alleviate some of the daily stresses and challenges of living in the district. The two fantastic guest speakers, Anita Rossiter and Helen Everingham, whose topical discussions about health, resilience and self-esteem were thoroughly enjoyed by the audience. Through the help of Womens Wellness Day's main sponsor, the RACQ foundation, we were able to offer each attendee a $20 voucher to spend at any of the stalls or loca businesses in Miles. We were able to raise just shy of $500 due to the wonderful prizes that were donated for our raffle, thank-you to all who contributed prizes for the raffle, this money will be put towards next years event.

On May 26th 2016, the women of Miles were invited to a free event at Murilla Community Centre’s Women’s Wellness Day. Miles celebrated the hard working women of the district with our annual event and invited women from all walks of life to take part. Now in its second year, this event encompassed areas of women's health, lifestyle and beauty and provided information, inspiration, education and fun.

Women’s Wellness Day was hosted during Domestic Violence Awareness Week. Information and pamphlets were included in the gift bags that attendees received and one of our guest speakers, solicitor Ann Somers, spoke at length on the subject of domestic violence.

With the success of Women’s Wellness Day over the previous two years it shows that the event is valuable, informative and appreciated by the women of the Miles and surrounding communities. Attendance of this event exceeded our expectations and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive from attendees and vendors.

The Murilla Community Centre Women’s Wellness Day is an annual event and we look forward to seeing you there next year!

Massages, manicures, and facials? Who has the time and the money for those? Self-care can be an expensive, time-consuming activity that is often disregarded in our fast-moving, packed schedules. However, on March 5th, almost 200 Western Downs women were treated to a free day of pamper at Murilla Community Centre’s Women’s Wellness Day. The day included free beauty treatments, pamper packs, massages, wine tastings, food, fitness workshops, and demonstrations such as how to make chocolate fudge and clean eating practices. Upon arrival, women were gifted with a pamper pack that included a sugar scrub and a bottle of wine along with a $20 gift voucher from Hand Heart Pocket and Charity of Freemasons QLD that could be spent at any Miles business. There were a variety of booths which event attendees could also spend their voucher at while sipping on complementary champagne. During lunch, Karen Seiler from the South Burnett spoke on community resilience and a lucky draw prize of a dinner for two that was donated by the Swagsman Motor Inn. And best of all, the entire event was free!
