Respite

Murilla Respite Service provides care and respite to Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) & National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) eligible members of the community.

The service provides carers some relief from their caring role which can help enable their family member/loved one to stay in their own home longer.

The Murilla Respite Service is a service sponsored by the Murilla Community Centre Inc.

The service:

  • Provides respite care and social support, in the client’s own home, allowing carers relief from their duties.

  • Provides centre based respite care.

  • Is actively involved in providing respite care in the community.

  • Believes it has a responsibility to care providers and clients to provide quality care, consideration and compassion.

  • Undertakes continuous monitoring and review of respite workers.

Respite Care and Social Support is usually provided in the client’s home but may include short excursions, companionship, shopping, banking or accompanying clients to medical appointments, etc.

Clients are treated to morning tea, lunch, entertainment (games, music, movies, activities, crafts) at a minimal cost.
Transport for local residents is available to and from the centre on the Murilla Community bus/or service car where necessary.

The Murilla Respite Service believes each individual consumer should be treated with dignity and respect with regards to their needs, values and beliefs. All information provided is treated with privacy and confidentiality.  Murilla Respite Service seeks to serve all people in a non-discriminatory way.

Respite Care is a vital service that allows

  • a carer to have ‘time out’ from the client, if only for a short time.

  • clients to learn new and different activities.

  • privacy of the client is maintained and service to each client is provided with the strictest confidentiality.

  • each client’s social, physical and emotional needs to be met.

  • each client to be aware of all relevant services available to them.

Centre Based Respite Care is held at the Community Centre every Wednesday and Friday.
